Oxidized Bitumen

Azera Oil Is One Of Reliable Companies that supply all grades of Oxidized bitumen

Oxidized bitumen is produced by blowing hot air with temperatures of 200 to 300 degrees Celsius into the reactor of the refinery’s BBUs, in order to obtain penetration grade bitumen. In comparison with pure bitumen, this product has a lower penetration grade and a higher melting point. A low, medium or hard oxidized bitumen is classified according to its softening point and penetration grade.

As bitumen is heated in the reactor, oxygen atoms of air react with hydrogen atoms of bitumen. As a result, some steam is generated which should be removed from the oxidation chamber. Therefore, the Oxidized bitumen remains.

There are various grades of oxidized bitumen.

Low oxidized bitumen grades:

75/25, 75/30, 85/25, 85/40, 95/25, 90/40

Medium grades:

90/10, 90/15

hard oxidized bitumen

115/15, 110/15, 105/5, 105/15, 105/35 and 150/5

Products: 85-25 / 95-25 / 115-15

Oxidized bitumen application

Oxidized bitumen is used in many industries such as road construction, hydropower, roofing, flooring, masonry, oil and gas, and electrical applications.

  1. Road construction, paving, and road maintenance can be accomplished with this type of bitumen. Asphalts used on roads, highways, railroads, and parking lots can be made with it as an additive with a binder
  2. Oxidized bitumen is a commonly used material for canal linings. In addition to the construction of embankments and dams, the use of bitumen can also be found in the construction of hydraulic structures, the protection of dams, and the stabilization of sand dunes
  3. As a roofing felt, shingle roof, damp proof coating composition, carriage roof compound, liquid roof coating, or plastic cement, oxidized bitumen can be used. The most common use for oxidized bitumen is waterproofing.
  4. Oxidized bitumen can be used as flooring. Bitumen mastic, which is acid and alkali proof, is a corrosion prevention material used in many industries such as chemical, fertilizer, steel, and woodworking. Additionally, oxidized can be used to fix parquet flooring.
  5. Laminated boards are bonded with oxidized bitumen. Besides sealing electrical junction boxes, it also adheres to fabrics. Wires, batteries, and cables can all use too.
